GYEONGJU, 1 NOVEMBER 2025: Around 15 major United States (US) companies have expressed interest in either expanding or facilitating investments in Malaysia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this follows the US President's visit to the Malaysian capital during the recent 47th Asean Summit.

"We met with the US Business Coalition, which includes major American companies looking to either expand their investments or propose measures to facilitate US investments in Malaysia.

"This also follows President Donald Trump's visit to Malaysia," he said.

He said this to reporters at a press conference concluding his three-day working visit in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Economic Leaders' Meeting here today.

He added that among the companies involved are Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Philip Morris International and JP Morgan Chase.

"The companies span various sectors such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and financial services, involving around 15 to 16 firms," he said, commenting on the outcome of the Apec-US Business Coalition meeting held yesterday.

In addition, Anwar had the opportunity to meet with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on the sidelines of the Apec meeting.

Malaysia and the US continue to strengthen bilateral economic relations, including joint commitments between the US Treasury and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

The Prime Minister said this strong relationship is crucial to ensuring policy stability between both countries.

"Focus is also given to strengthening bilateral economic ties.

"This includes joint commitments between the US Treasury and BNM to ensure a resilient exchange rate policy, financial market stability, and transparent and accountable governance," he said in a statement after the meeting yesterday.

He added that Malaysia remains committed to enhancing its strategic cooperation with the US, based on the principles of openness, fairness and mutual respect, to ensure regional stability, prosperity and peace.

The meeting, he said, also continued the momentum of close relations established during the 47th Asean Summit.

It also provided an avenue to discuss various aspects of trade and financial relations between Malaysia and the US.
