InvestKL’s Board of Directors is composed of relevant government entities, heads of key industries as well as leaders of business associations.

The InvestKL Board provides advice and guidance in formulating strategic directions as well as reviewing and auditing InvestKL’s performance. Among the Board’s primary tasks is to promote Greater Kuala Lumpur as a Regional hub for Business, Innovation and Talent.

    Datuk Seri Michael K C Yam was appointed as Chairman of the Board on 28 June 2012.

    He had an illustrious career spanning 30 years in the construction, real estate and corporate sectors with the last 12 years until 2008 helming two different award winning public listed property companies.

    During his stewardship of these two companies and prior to that in top management positions with various organisations, he was actively involved in the development and management of hotels, resorts, shopping malls, golf estates, international schools and various mixed developments, not only in Malaysia but also in Australia, UK and South Africa.

    He qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors after he graduated in Building and Management Studies from the University of Westminster, UK in 1979.

    After stepping down from full time employment in 2008, he established a private equity and project management consultancy known as Impetus Partnership Sdn Bhd.

    He is currently an independent director on the Boards of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, Standard Chartered Saadiq Bank Berhad, Paramount Corporation Berhad and Government incorporated companies CLAB Berhad and Malaysia Property Incorporated.

    He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of UK-based Chartered Institute of Building and Standard Chartered Charity Trust, and is a director of the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

    He is the current President of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association of Malaysia and serves as a member of the Advisory Board to the Mayor and City of Kuala Lumpur.

    He was also recently appointed by the Government as a member of the NKEA Steering Committee for the transformation of Greater Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley and also by EPF as an independent non-executive director of its subsidiary Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd.

    Datuk Seri Michael Yam was awarded the prestigious “CEO of the Year 2002” Award by Business Times and American Express Corporate Services.

    Datuk Dr Victor Wee was appointed to the Board on 6 Jan 2014.

    Datuk Dr Victor Wee is currently the Chairman of Bistro & Theatre Restaurant Sdn Bhd (Saloma Bistro), who also sits on the International Advisory Board of Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Award.

    He was the Chairman of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board from 2009 to 2013. In 2010, he served as the leader for the Tourism Laboratory to formulate the roadmap for the tourism industry for 2010-2020 and boost its contribution to propel Malaysia into a high-income economy by 2020 under the Economic Transformation Programme.

    His other notable roles include being an advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Secretary General for Ministry of Tourism, Senior Director of Economic Planning Unit, and Deputy Head of National Economic Action Council, among others. Datuk Dr Wee was also a recipient of the Outstanding Participant award for the Top Level Leadership and Management (JUSA) course 2004 conducted by the National Public Administration Institute (INTAN) for Malaysia’s top civil servants.

    He holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from University of Malaya, Master of Arts from Brown University, U.S.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Bristol University, United Kingdom. He also received training at Harvard University, Institute of Manpower Studies at University of Sussex and the East West Center in Hawaii.

    Dato Azman was appointed to the board on 7 October 2013.

    He is currently the Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

    He spent 25 years with MIDA in various leadership positions in the US, Japan and Malaysia covering promotion strategy and manufacturing & services growth where he played a significant role to promote investments into Malaysia.

    He has extensive experience in the international business as well as a broad understanding of the development of the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia.

    He holds a degree in Engineering from the Universiti Putra Malaysia, and has attended several Senior Management Programmes, namely the Harvard Business School and INSEAD.
